We went to KC Sunday morning to run a few errands, get our child {thank you to Sue Sue and Gram for taking Iz with you on Saturday- Jacob and I went to dinner just the two of us for the first time in a long time, it was really great, we had a nice time!} and have our doc appt. in Lawrence Monday morning.
The babe was good, no sono, but we did listen to her heart beat which was in the 150s and she measured my belly which was still right on track for our due date.
As we were driving home, I called Iz's doc to say that the 'thing' on her face was still there after 10 days on antibiotic {they found staph in it because she has picked it and irritated it so much} and they were able to get her in at 11:30, right when we were going to get back in town, so we pretty much went straight there. Iz really just wanted to get her blood pressure checked! At least she knows how it works!
We got a new medication and I will be sad to report that she also finished all that and still has that darn thing on her cheek!! AAAGGHH! I swear we don't know our child anymore without it! I think I have told you what happened, but if not, a little girl at Mrs. Patty's squeezed Iz's cheeks and had some nails, cut her cheek and Iz has picked it ever since.. for months!! She does it in her sleep, like a bad habit now.. so terrible! We have tried everything, you name it! If you have any miracle/magical ideas, please share!!
Our third appt. of the day, Lucy had to get her allergy shot and they were able to squeeze her in right before the closed, so the minute Iz woke up from her nap {hence her awesome bed hair}, we were at the vet with Luc! Iz tried to weigh herself on the pet scale...
I had a Holiday party to go to {just to top off our crazy day of running around!} and needed to bring something, wanted it to be fast, easy and something I didn't have to go to the store for.. so, I remembered making funfetti rice crispies for Jacob's birthday and was going to do that and then thought the red velvet would be more festive {which I had seen via a Pinterest
site}! Her's seemed to be a much darker red, but I still thought they looked pretty!
Jacob walked in after I had them all cut on this plate and said it looked like a mound of ground beef.. thanks dear! Of course I would make a big pile of red meat!
Red Velvet Rice Crispie Treats
1 bag of mini mallows {I also added a handful of big mallows because we like them exra mallowy- like how I just made that word up}
3 T butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2-3/4 C red velvet cake mix
6 C rice crispies cereal
sprinkles for topping {optional}
*Melt butter and mini mallows over low heat {or in micro safe bowl}. When mallows are completely melted, mix in vanilla and red velvet cake mix {just like making regular crispie treats, but adding red velvet!!}
*Remove from heat and carefully stir in the rice crispies until evenly coated.
*Pour batter into a lined or greased 13"x9" pan and press down. This is when I put the sprinkles on..
*Wait until cooled, cut and serve! We also keep ours in the fridge, makes them taste better.. try it!
She actually made these for Valentine's Day {lovintheoven.com} so you could also do that... and she has some other fun ideas on her site.
