Happy Halloween!!

So my manager (thanks Laura!) found an orange shirt and brought her Cricut in to cut out the pumpkin face, pretty cool piece of equipment!  We thought the frazzled eyes were appropriate for the day!
Another coworker friend (Jessica, who is also expecting!) made us Humpty Dumpty shirts so I was switching back and forth throughout the day!  It was 'have fun with the pregnant girls' at work day!
We have a crazy treat day at work for Halloween and I made these delicious pumpkin cookies that were wiped out in a couple hours... they were really easy and quick to make so I thought I would share the recipe.

1/2 C shortening (I used butter, I have a weird thing against shortening)
1 1/4 C packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 C canned pumpkin
2 1/2 C all-purpose flour (I used whole wheat, but whatever you prefer)
4 tsp backing powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg... I also added 1/2 tsp of ground ginger
1 C raisins (optional, I didn't add them this time)
1 C chopped walnuts (same on this, I didn't add them)

Preheat oven to 375.
Cream shortening/butter and sugar, then add eggs.  Mix well.  Add vanilla and pumpkin.  Set aside.
Sift dry ingredients, then blend into the 'wet' ingredients.  Fold in nuts and raisins if you are adding them.  Mix.
Drop by heaping tsps (loved this part because they don't have to be perfect) onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-15 mins.  Cool.  I sprinkled powdered sugar on top after they were cooled for looks, but you could also ice them with cream cheese frosting.
*Best eaten if you let them 'ripen' for a day.  Store in a sealed container.
Enjoy!

38 Weeks, we are due 2 weeks from today!!

Feeling big!!  The Baby Center says she weighs about 6.8 lbs and over 19 1/2 inches long (like the size of a leek).  She moves a lot and her feet get up under my ribs all the time, I have to try and push her down because it can be pretty uncomfortable!  She seems to get the hiccups every couple of days and they can be pretty strong, so my whole belly bounces and it's pretty funny to watch.
Had to share this... my coworkers called today (and sent me this pic) asking if I would wear an orange shirt tomorrow so they can put pumpkin faces on my belly!!  I said I would do it, but I don't think I have an orange shirt, so we'll see what they come up with tomorrow!
Look at our new kitchen!!  We have the bases for the cabinets and the sink set in and all the framing and doors are up!  It's coming along!  The tile is starting to go up in the bathroom and the wood floors get sanded and stained starting Wednesday of next week... let's all pray that our little miss stays in there for these 2 weeks!!
This is our new laundry room, not much to see but I was excited that there is now a door and trim hiding the furnace.  The washer and dryer will go to the left of the door (straight ahead).

Doc. Appt!!

We went to the doctor today and have made some progress, I am 80% effaced and 1.5-2 cm dilated.  The doctor said her head is way down there, so she has dropped and is in the ready position to come out!  My belly is measuring 37.5 cm and her heartbeat was 138-140.  Jacob's face was pretty priceless when she said 80%, I was even like, wait, we only have to get to 100%... aaagh!!!  We go back to the doctor Thursdasy as long as she is still in there!  I am still doing well, minus the swelling ankles and feet and occasional heart burn.  Looking forward to having my feet back and wearing heels!

Productive 'Get ready for baby' Weekend!

Jacob got the stroller put together and Lucy wanted to test it out after our workout!
Pack n' Play, done!

Yay for friends coming in town!
We had our first baby sleepover with some of our best friends (sorry again he didn't sleep Runge!), Greyson helped us get ready for what's it going to be like in a couple weeks!  We can't wait for him to meet Matilda!
I started packing my hospital bag and Jacob got the car seat put into the car so we are ready!!  We have a doc. appt. in the morning so we'll see how much has changed!  I'll let you know tomorrow.... Ciao!

37 Weeks, we made it full term!

I can't believe we only have three weeks left, and that's if she's not early!  The Baby Center says she is 6 1/3 lbs and measures a little over 19" head to heal (like a stalk of swiss chard).  I can tell she is getting bigger, sometimes when she moves it feels like she is going to bust through my belly!  Luckily the acid reflux has subsided, but my ankles and feet still swell towards the end of the day and it's a pain to try and get my ring on which is a bummer.  Jacob and I are trying to get things ready, wash some of her newborn outfits she got, put the pack n play together and get the car seat in the car!  So crazy that she could be here anytime!  We did also have our first trip to Babies R Us on Sunday (yep, first trip, nothing like last minute!), man is that place overwhelming!
Some exciting house news, we have wood floors!
Our new bedroom!
The new hallway to our bedroom, Matilda's room is the door on the right and the second doorway is the new laundry room.
All of our patio and sidewalk has been poured and is done!!  Good thing it doesn't matter if we pick of leaves this year!

Minor House Update

We went by our house today and were happy to find that all the walls have been primed and are ready for paint!  The rest of the patio and sidewalk was also poured today and looks great.  Our floors are getting put in and the outside of the house being painted on Wednesday and Jacob is picking up the cabinets tomorrow and dropping them off to be stained... hurray for things getting done :)!!  Sorry there are no pics, we didn't have the camera with us, will get some tomorrow or Wednesday!  Ciao!

Doc. Appointment!

We had a fairly uneventful doc. appt. today, just got the belly measured and listened to the heart beat, which was lower than it usually is, 130-140, my doctor said she was sleeping.  She felt her head and it is really low and her back is curled on my right side, with her feet and arms to the left (she told me all that just by feeling her!).  We meet another pediatrician tomorrow and go back to the doctor on Wednesday!
I can't believe I forgot to tell you about my prenatal massage last Wednesday, it was amazing, so relaxing, I didn't want to move after!  Thank you Runge and Abbey, such a great gift!!

Work Shower at 36 weeks!!

My wonderful work friends threw me a baby shower yesterday over lunch, it was great, way more than I expected!!  We had lunch, cake, mini cupcakes and lots of wonderful gifts, they were all too generous!  It was perfect.  I'm so lucky to have such great co-workers, thank you, thank you, I couldn't thank you enough!!
Vicki got us the cutest fuzzy little eskimo outfit (Jacob's description), I had no idea they made those and it is adorable!  She also got us a fabulous diaper bag that I can't wait to use... speaking of, we still need to get our bag packed for the hospital!  And a teddy bear that was Jacob's when he was little for Matilda, so sweet, she will love it!  My mom gave us the outfit I wore home from the hospital, so cute... it was fun to get something of both of ours from when we were little from our moms, so sentimental.  Thanks moms!
Some of the team :)

We had a doc. appt. on Wednesday and it was one of the "fun" appts where I got my cervix checked... her head is down and in the right position and I have dilated 1 cm and am 20% effaced, so she is getting ready to come into this world!!  We can't believe it.  We also met a pediatrician on Friday and learned about all the appointments Matilda will have when she gets here, holy smokes!  The medical bills will never end ;).  We have another appt. on Monday so I will let you know if anything has changed after that.  Less than 4 weeks to go and she could come anytime!

I love Fall foods!!

I have been on a mission to find these mini loaf cupcake liners and finally found them (thank you Partyworks.com!) so I made some delicious pumpkin bread... I love anything pumpkin!  Our dogs were also able to enjoy some delicious 'Pupkin' loaves from 'Three Dog Bakery' on the plaza :)!

We also found another fabulous ice cream that gives Christopher Elbow some competition... 'Sylas and Maddy's' on Mass. has a seasonal apple pie ice cream and it's AMAZING!  To die for!  Lucky for us, they sell pints and quarts, so we got a quart last night... they also have pumpkin cheesecake ice cream that is also very delicious.  If you are in Lawrence anytime soon, you have to try it (and visit us)!
Happy Fall :)!!

35 Weeks and 3 days!

It's kind of hard to see the belly, but you can see some of our new back porch... it's all shingled and being painted tomorrow!  Baby Center says baby Wilson is about the size of a honeydew now, 18 inches  long and about 5 1/4 lbs... I can tell she doesn't have as much as room to move around in there because my whole belly will move when she's active, it's pretty crazy to watch!  We had a breastfeeding class on Wednesday (yep, 3 hours!), so that was interesting!  I am still experiencing acid reflux and cankles, but other than that, we are happy!  Now if our house could just get done!  Here are a few more pics of the progress....
Disregard me covering my nose... this is the view from the dining room, into the kitchen and the sitting/TV room... you can also see the doorway to the pantry (left side by the door to the outside) and bathroom (right side).
This is our new bedroom, super dirty right now, but at least there are real walls!
Our new bathroom, tub and shower on the right.
All the walls should get done in the next couple of days and then primed for paint.  The wood floors are scheduled to go in next Monday so hope we stay on schedule!

Preadmission Appt!!

We had our preadmission appointment today and it made it all VERY real!  We toured the labor/delivery rooms and (they are really nice) that's what made it set in even more, we will be there in about a month!  We filled out all the paperwork and got all registered so we are ready when she decides to join us!  It was crazy to put Jacob and my name in the 'mother' and 'father' boxes because I kept wanting to write my mom's name... we are almost parents... wow!!

34 Weeks = 8 1/2 months!!!

We had a work bowling outing today and we noticed there are some similarities with the belly and the bowling ball!  We went to the doctor on Tuesday and my tum is 33 cm and her heart beat was 153-155, doing well!  She weighs about 4 3/4 lbs and is almost 18 inches long (an average cantaloupe) ~Baby Center.  Only 6 weeks to go, I can't believe she is almost here!  She has gotten the hiccups a few more times and moves around all the time.  I am still enjoying the pleasures of acid reflux and swelling in the feet (also know as elephant legs/feet!), but other than that, all is pretty good.
House update:
All the cedar shingles are up and it's looking more like our house!!  They started insulating and pouring the patio today and they are sheet rocking starting Tuesday, so we will have walls!  So excited it is moving along!
