We had a fun morning being crafty! We had stuff to paint and cinnamon ornaments to make for gifts.

Izzy girl was so excited to paint, she loves painting!
I had wanted to make some ornaments to give to family for Christmas so I thought I would try the salt dough.. seemed simple enough. I made the
salt dough from '
theimaginationtree.com' {mix together 1 C salt, 1 C plain flour, 1/2 C warm water, bake for 3 hours at 200 degrees} and split the dough in half like she recommended, but they just seemed really thick and big, so I made 3 and they were still pretty thick.. Iz's hand also didn't seem to indent them that well- I'll just say, I was kind of disappointed in the outcome so we only made the 3. My hands are also very dry and they were burning by the time I had the dough mixed up.. will need gloves if I make it again!
We also painted a picture frame for dad.. that is a face of concentration!
After painting we made
cinnamon applesauce ornaments {1 C applesauce, 1 1/2 C cinnamon}... way more successful than the salt dough, I was really happy they turned out! And our kitchen smelled amazing all morning!
Once you have the dough made, just roll it out and us whatever cookie cutters you want!
Can you tell by Isabelle's mouth and hand that she's saying, "no, I do it.".. ?
So much fun! Thank you for helping Sue Sue!
I had really wanted to get Iz's hand, so I just traced around her hand with a dull knife and it seemed to work out pretty well..
All done and ready for the oven! We baked them at 200 degrees for 1 1/2 hours and then let them sit out for the rest of the day. I did use red + white bakers twine to hang them and I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the finished product, but I'm sure you get the idea. I put them on top of the cookie plates we gave to our neighbors and they were a perfect addition!
I had some crescent rolls in the fridge and remembered seeing this
recipe on Pinterest, so I decided to make them for breakfast. They are super easy and delicious! I know, of course they are, it's crescent roll, butter + cinnamon sugar! I didn't get a picture of them right out of the oven because we were hungry and so anxious to eat them, so this pic was after they were cooled and it just doesn't do them justice.
Crescent Cinnamon Rolls
Preheat oven to 375
Mix together:
5 T melted butter, 1/4 C white sugar, 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Spread mixture evenly over the unrolled crescent rolls and roll up tightly.
Place tip side down on an un greased rimmed cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
For the glaze/icing, mix:
2 T melted butter, 1/4 C + 2 T powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla
Pour over the rolls.
*Next time I make these, I will omit the butter and just make a regular icing glaze of powdered sugar, milk + vanilla.
