:: outside ::

I had been trying to come up with things that Isabelle and I could do during the day, especially learning/creative/skill building things for her - so I bought some side walk chalk for us.  It was fun to watch Isabelle color and enjoy herself outside... she loves to be outside, she points to the door and says, 'outside' in the cutest little voice, love the way she says it {like, ouside}.
I can't believe how big she is, just walking on her own, such a little girl... walking to gigi's to go 'wheee'.
{having fun with instagram}
this just made me laugh, Isabelle came trotting into the kitchen with Lucy, her shirt hiked up and belly hanging out, just so happy!

:: 16/17 month doc. appointment ::

Isabelle and I stayed in Lawrence Monday night because my mom and I were taking a cooking class at the Merc (cooking with grains: quinoa, teff, millet + amaranth... it was wonderful, so I will share recipes later) which ended up working out because Isabelle was behind on her check-ups and we didn't know it.  We thought the doctor told us that her next check-up was 18 months, but when I called to make the appointment, she said it was 15 mos and Isabelle was almost 17!  Ooops!  Luckily they got us in Tuesday morning before we headed back to Salina.
Poor girl tripped on the deck and got quite the 'bonk' on her head.
Isabelle is almost too big to lay down on the measuring table which made me a little bit sad.  Her stats are:
Height = 30.75 inches, 40%
Weight = 21 lbs 6 ounces, 18%
Head Circumference = 18.25 inches, 54%
The doctor said she was growing and developing on the right curve so that was good to hear!  We did have a little surprise, the doctor was checking her ears and looked in the left and said, "she has a mad ear infection in this ear", I was like, no way, you are kidding?!  She said on a scale of 1 to 10 it was an 8.5 because it was that yucky/bad inside.  Poor girl, I had no idea, she wasn't pulling on her ear or anything.  So we got some 'bubblegum' medicine before we left town... Isabelle loved it!  Looking back, there were a few things that I realized were probably because she didn't feel 100%, so it was nice to know there was a reason and that she was going to feel better.
just organizing her bag while we waited for the nurse to come and give Iz her shots :(.
 they gave us a new book - hurray!
just snooping around while we wait for the doc to come back!
my loves. my kids :)
my little munchkin passed out on our way back to Salina.
There is a little park right down the street from us so Iz and I checked it out when we got home... she loves swings, but for some reason she wasn't a huge fan of this one - bummer.

*Little side note: while I was home at my mom's and Iz was sleeping, I went through a bunch of my old clothes {have been needing to do it forever!} and took them to 2 different used clothing stores in Lawrence {didn't have high hopes, but that it was worth a try}, and they didn't take much, but I ended up with $20 - better than nothing right?  Then Isabelle and I dropped the rest off at Salvation Army... it just felt good to get rid of it all + make a little extra flow ;)!  That was my first time trying to get money for anything so it was kind of nice bonus... just thought I'd share in case you haven't tried it yet either.

Road trip to Lawrence + KC

Isabelle and I went to Lawrence + KC for the weekend while Jacob went to the KU games in St. Louis.  It was nice to be back in Lawrence, but it was kind of weird since we didn't have our house to go to.  We had a fun filled 4 days so there are a lot of pics!
We went downtown on Friday and went into a few shops - found a couple great books at the used book store {Dusty Bookshelf} so Iz was taking a look at them on our way to KC.  I could have been in the kids section in that store forever, I loved looking at all the old books and seeing familiar titles from my childhood.  Note to self: don't take Iz next time... I turned around and she was sitting/crawling on stacks of books and they were falling all over the place so I was frantically trying to put them back in their correct spots.
Oh man, Isabelle found my mom's stash and was carrying the huge vodka bottle around.. I couldn't resist sending this picture to Jacob asking if we should be worried about our child's drinking problem at such a young age ;).
We went to visit Amber and her new lovely little girl Charlie.. Isabelle loved meeting the baby {she says baby now whenever she sees littles and I always say, "you are still my baby!"}
Isabelle tried to make off with the gift bag we had just given Charlie...
We met friends at breakfast Saturday morning {actually I, Isabelle was still sleeping :(} and I walked in to Henry lookin' so fly! ;)  Love it!
Kellie, Henry, Jayme, Carter, Niko + Marti... so good to see you all!!
I went home and got gram and Isabelle so we could meet Henry and Kel for a play date.  Isabelle loved this little mailbox that Kellie's parents have for the grandkids.
Sno globe - amazing!
Hen + Iz
Hen was such a good drummer.. Iz was his fly girl!
They looked so cute looking out the door... pointing at a dog, of course.
We walked to a park and the littles loved swinging with their grams.
Isabelle checking out Henry...
and Henry checking her out right back :).
Isabelle's first time down a slide {that I have seen at least} and it was a little big for a first experience, even though I caught her half way, it scared her and she didn't like it.
love these two {pics + people}
We had one of my absolute favorites for dinner - unforked.
*note: if you eat there, try the kale salad.. delicious!
Isabelle just looking so big at dinner.
One of Izzy girls new favorite things.. bubbles!  And she says it so cute, I love when she says 'bubbles', it almost sounds like 'bubbies'... it's one of my favorite words she says.
I loved how the camera picked up the bubbles.
Our Sunday... Isabelle was pretty hilarious at church, she really can't sit still these days.
There is a bench and sculpture in memory of my dad by the pond at the church so we showed it to Isabelle after church.
Our walk before lunch... lately Isabelle has to walk everywhere, she says 'walk, walk' and wants down so some of our walks aren't quite as fast as they used to be.
to bubbles!
her rock collection at gram's.  Isabelle was sporting her KU shirt for the big game that night!
She loves playing on my swing set from when I was little.. so does Lucy.
Our Reggie.
happy day.
We had such a nice couple of days in KC with friends and gram, but we missed dad!!
