Our first little trim!!

So, not that Isabelle has much hair {still}, she did have some kind of long stragglers that were contributing to her 'mullet' look {thank you aunts Ashley and Courtney ;)}, so we just trimmed off those random long strands.  It wasn't enough to keep, but it did help make it look better and healthier.  I am also hoping it helps it grow a little bit.
before: lookin' scraggly...
Entertaining Iz while she got a little snip.
lookin' pretty!
 After: it's straight!
Thank you Gigi for helping us and the use of your hair cutting scissors!

:: berry mint smoothie ::

My friend Runge recommended I 'like', 'Incredible Smoothies' on Facebook because she posts a new smoothie everyday - such a great way to expand my smoothie making horizons!
We have so much mint growing in our back yard {yay}, so I was excited when I saw mint was part of this smoothie.  I did adapt it a little bit from her recipe {posted on June 6 and below}...
"2 small frozen bananas, 10 mint leaves, 4 apricots, 4 tablespoons goji berries, 3 cups baby spinach and 8 ounces filtered water"

1 small banana
about 10 mint leaves
handful of mixed berries
handful of baby spinach
1 scoop  {1/4 C} vanilla JP+ protein powder
8 oz filtered water

Loved the hint of mint.. ha, that rhymes!

:: baked falafel ::

My friend Kellie sent me this wonderful recipe from a blog she follows and I'm so glad she did because it was so simple and I love falafel!
You can find the full recipe {for the cucumber yogurt sauce} here baked falafels.
I pretty much followed her recipe, but I didn't have paprika, so I left that out... they were still delicious!

1 can chickpeas
2 T flour
2 T parsley, chopped
2 garlic cloves {I just used one because I didn't want them to be strong garlicky}
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika {if you have it}
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Combine all ingredients in a food processor, pulse until well combined {should be thick}.  Form equal-sized patties {she said 9, I made 11, just depends on how big you want them} and place on a greased cookie sheet.  Drizzle with olive oil and bake for about 15 to 18 minutes.
I love this recipe because it's so simple and they taste just as good, if not better, than store bought.  Highly recommend if you like falafel!  We were out of hummus and tahini to make more, so I just paired it with cherry tomatoes + spinach and it was perfect.

:: play date at kenwood cove ::

A new 'do' for Isabelle.. she actually picked out the hair rubber band and held it on top of her head so I said 'ok'! And this is what we got- she loved it!  One of the only things she will leave in her hair.. who knew?!
We met some friends at Kenwood Cove and it was a blast...
Isabelle swinging and chatting with Greta.
 Greta is so cute, likes to help Isabelle.. she thought Iz needed a push :).
 Just my starving child, snooping through our lunch bag for snacks!  She knows her mom all too well!
 We had kind of a crazy night, we went straight from the water park to paint some pottery at our Parents as Teachers event... it was fun to sit and paint with Iz.. I will share what we made once we get it back! Isabelle had paint all over her, so I was trying to get a pic of it, but you can't see it that well.. she had it on her nose, cheek, arms, hands.. everywhere!  So fun, will definitely have to go back and paint something else!

:: weekend in wichita ::

Isabelle and I headed to Wichita after her nap on Thursday to spend time with our friends, the Wasinger's.  We had a fun day planned at the zoo Friday and dinner + drinks Thursday night with just Runge {Lindsey} and I, like the 'old' days ;).  It was a nice night on the patio of Mike's Wine Dive...
{get ready for all the pics!}

We got up, went for a run, got lattes and looked at Children's books at a local coffee/book shop and met McKenzie and Greyson at the zoo.. lots of my favorites, so wonderful!
 The Wichita zoo is pretty awesome in that, you can feed the giraffes!!  It was so fun to watch the littles, Isabelle had no fear!
 Check out that tongue trying to snag Runge's leaves!
 This was funny, Iz was walking by right as someone was feeding the giraffe and it licked her head, she had "Something About Mary" hair on the side!
So intrigued...
 Happy girl!  {You can kind of see her hair sticking out and towards the back on the side}
 What amazing creatures!!
On to the petting zoo... 'moooos'!
The boys riding the horse!
 Such a big helper!  She was so happy to be holding onto Greyson's stroller.
 LOVE this pic.. like they are discussing the elephants or something.. don't mind that it's the elephants' behinds!
 'big meowie'!
:: Saturday ::
Jacob ended up coming to meet us Friday night so he could golf with Ryan and we  could do the River Run.. it was a success- we got our medals :)!
It was such a beautiful day to be outside at the River fest, Greyson and Iz enjoyed all the waterfalls/bubbles!
They also really liked watching the toy trains.. love this picture of them peeking up over the table.
We took a little boat ride along the river.. had to do it all ;)!
They got a little antsy...
Hurray for horses being there!!  Isabelle was so excited to see them!

I love their little squats!
We had some hot, hungry, tired little ones when we left- perfect example of one right here... weaseled her way out of the shoulder straps {danger, I know} and was leaning out the window {it wasn't open, but she probably would be if it was!}.
Tongue out!  Not safe!

We had a sitter for after we put the littles down so we could go to dinner, but got some pics of Isabelle and Greyson playing in their pj's before bed.
Iz getting some important advise from Aunty Runge.
I love this of Greyson with his plane, he loves that plane!
These two were so cute, they got so excited to take their baths together, gave hugs and kisses before bed and couldn't wait to get up and see each other in the mornings. sweet.
I love how Greyson is checking out what Iz is so excited about in the book.
They did such a good job at taking all the books out and making a huge mess!  Iz is just sitting in the book basket..
love. this. two littles reading books.
:: Sunday ::
We walked to a little diner for breakfast and before we headed home.. it was fun to watch them walk, like they are so big!
We told them to hold hands, so this is Iz trying to grab G's hand and him saying, 'no way, josé!' ;).
Greyson running from Iz.. she is trying to catch him ;).
Isabelle took everything out of the bags that were in her reach... here she is trying mom's shoes on...
and attempting to tie them!
We had such a wonderful time in Wichita with friends, Isabelle and Greyson were so sad when we said our goodbyes... until next time friends!  Thanks for being the best hosts ever!!
