House Update, finally!

I took these pics from my BB so they aren't as good, but you get the idea... our kitchen is coming together!

Looking into the 'TV/den' room (mini bar on the right) and half bath on the left (the floors are in and the walls are painted!).

Our bathroom is getting there, all the tile is done!

We are getting so close to being done, the floors get the last coat of stain on Monday and we are moving furniture back in on Wednesday!  We will get our bedroom and the guest bedroom set up on Wednesday also, so we can get everything out of Isabelle's room and start working on her room, can't wait!  I will keep you posted on the status!

Isabelle's 2nd appointment!

We had Isabelle's 2nd doctor's appt. yesterday and it went really well, she weighs 8 lbs, 2 oz and is about 20 1/2 inches long, growing girl!  The doctor said she looks really good and we go back in a month for another check up.

On our way to lunch, Jacob put Isabelle in her seat and she just had this face on and her arms limp, it was pretty funny!

Okay, one more, sorry to be so picture happy!!  Such a sweet pic of Isabelle and dad... she loves to sleep on her belly!  We have been putting her on her belly so she can practice holding her head up and she is pretty good at it, she will even kind of crawl up Jacob's chest to get to his face!

Izzy is 1 week today!!

Our little miss is just so precious, we had her first doctor appt. on Friday morning and she is already back at her birth weight (pretty much), she weighed 7 lbs, 11.2 oz, the doctor was shocked, he was trying to prepare us that it would be two weeks before she would be back at her birth weight and then looked at the scale and was like, 'wow, are you supplementing her with formula?'... nope!  She's just our little piglet ;)!  He said she looked great, her coloring was much better (she was a little jaundice when we left the hospital).   Funny story, Jacob and I get in the room and he asked me if I brought the diaper bag and I was like, oops, no, did you?  And then of course he says she smells like poo and we have to undress her to her diaper for the doctor, the doc, opens her pants and there is an explosion!  Poor girl was not happy and we had no diapers to change her!  Jacob was so embarrassed, she just screamed the whole way out of the office... obvious first time parents and first time to leave the house!  I will say, we haven't forgotten it since and hopefully never will!

Grandma (or Gram, she doesn't know what she wants to be called yet) Dutton came up for my birthday on Thursday... there's Lucy, right next to her!

Izzy got to meet her cousins this weekend, Harper (with Aunt Courtney) turned 2 on Sunday and is so big now!

It's so hard to pick which pictures to put on here because I have taken so many (totally picture happy!) and I just want to show them all off!  This is Iz today, 1 wk old... she is a rock star, only got up 3 times last night and wasn't fussy, just changed her pants and fed her and she was back to sleep!  Fingers crossed this keeps up, she has been pretty good so far.  Love to all our friends and family, thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers along the way, we are so blessed to have our little Isabelle!

Isabelle Jeffrey has arrived!!

Our little one was born on Nov. 8th at 9:09 pm, weighed 7 lbs, 12 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long!  We couldn't believe she was almost 8 lbs!  We are all doing great, she is the most precious thing ever!  We can't wait for you all to meet her!  Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

DIY: Basic Knit Baby Hat

I have  made a couple of these hats for friends who were expecting and they are just so cute and pretty easy so I wanted to share...
You will need size 6 or 8 knitting needles and I recommend the wooden ones, the yarn doesn't slip off as easy as on the metal or plastic ones, but it's personal preference.
*Cast on 57 stitches (I know, it's a lot to count!)
*Knit 2, Pearl 2, (to make the ribbing) for 16 rows, about 2 inches
*Change to stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, pearl 1 row for 24 rows)
Now you will start to decrease the width:
*Row 1: knit 3, knit 2 together (2 loops at a time vs. 1) all the way across
  Row 2: pearl 2, pearl 2 together " "
  Row 3: knit 1, knit 2 together "  "
  Row 4: pearl 2 together "  "
Now you are ready to make it into the hat; cut a long piece of yarn and gather remaining stitches that are on needle and sew securely (making the top of the hat all come together).  Continue with the piece of yarn down the side seam, weaving in and out of each side to sew it together.  I would suggest using a yarn needle since they are bigger and will be much easier for you to use on this.

There are a few ways you can make the pom pom for the top, but I find the easiest and quickest way is to just wrap the yarn around your hand (widest part will make the ends of poms longer) a bunch of times (depending on how thick you want to make it is how many times you wrap the yarn) and once you have it as thick as you want it, take it off your hand, but hold the bunch in the middle and cut a smaller piece of yarn and tie it around the middle with several knots so it's tight and the yarn won't slip through.  Once it's tied and the yarn is secure, cut all the loops that were around your hand and wa la, you have a pom pom!  Now just attach that to the top of the hat with a piece of yarn (I usually use the ends of the string that is around the middle holding all the pieces together).  Thanks to my mom for these instructions!

 Just to show that you can have fun with the pom pom (or hat), my mom made this one for our little miss and it matches one of the blankets she made her (ignore the terrible face I'm making, candid shot ;) ).

39 Weeks, 1 to go!!!

Holy smokes, she is low!  I am 100% effaced and still about 2 cm dilated, our doctor said she predicts that she will be here within the week!  It didn't take much for her to feel her so she is en route!  I just hope we make it to the weekend now so it doesn't happen at work tomorrow!  Her heartbeat was about 140 and I forgot to ask what my belly measurment was, but it should be about 39 cm.  

There is a poll going at work for when she is going to show up and how much she will weigh... we have already passed 2 of them and we hope Len is wrong because he has that she will be 9 lbs and 8 oz!  Pretty funny!  She should be here any day, I will keep you posted!

Mini house update...

We have some tile in our bathroom!

The vent was put in above where the stove will be and all the floors were sanded on the first floor today... staining starts Friday (the dark spots on the floor are the samples we chose from, going dark)!

Our bedroom has paint on the walls which is pretty exciting, things are coming together!

We go to the doctor tomorrow morning so I will let you know the progress when we're done!
